‘In a desert of internet conglomerates and soulless e-readers, Slightly Foxed on Gloucester Road is an oasis of literary joy. The reading I did there in 2014 was one of my favourite events in a very busy year. Its staff care about writers and know about books, the venue is intimate and splendidly bookish and the audience is smart and interesting. Plus you go away with a bottle of wine and your choice of book from the shelves. A place to support and cherish.’ - Paul Kingsnorth
Welcome to the website of Slightly Foxed on Gloucester Road, the independent London bookshop owned by the bookish people at Slightly Foxed. We stock an eclectic but carefully chosen range of second-hand books, a selection of new books and reprints from interesting publishers, a range of artists’ cards and wood engravings, and other book-related items. Here on our website you can browse and buy a selection of our stock. For a full range please visit the shop.
Since the second-hand Gloucester Road Bookshop was taken over in 2009 by the lively and entertaining book magazine Slightly Foxed and renamed Slightly Foxed on Gloucester Road, the shop and its stock have had a facelift. Now, as well an unusual range of second-hand books, you’ll find a tempting selection of new books – including children’s books – classic reprints from interesting small publishers, artists’ cards, and other book-related items, as well as the full range of delightful limited-edition pocket reprints and paperbacks published by Slightly Foxed.
Slightly Foxed on Gloucester Road, just a step from the tube, is a booklover’s haven, where our staff are always happy to answer questions, make recommendations and take orders for any book in print, which can usually be obtained overnight. We’re well qualified to advise on anything to do with collecting and building a library, or compiling a wedding-present list of books. The shop has customers all over the globe, to some of whom they send a regular, personalized selection of ‘Books of the Month’.
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. So why not look in one day to have a browse, and put yourself on our mailing list so you can hear about our regular events.
